MWM Matt Window Mate

MWM Matt Window Mate is a family-run window and door installation business based in Glasgow South, Scotland. It is owned and operated by Matthew, his wife Sylwia, and their daughter Maja, who moved to Scotland over 19 years ago. The company specialises in like-for-like replacement and performance enhancement of traditional timber sash and case windows for period and listed homes. Matthew honed his specialist skills within the conservation window industry before founding the business and remains hands-on with every installation. Sylwia manages operations, customer care, media and project organisation.

Maja, who holds a First-Class Honours degree in Architecture (BSc) and is undertaking a Master’s degree in Architecture at the University of Strathclyde, provides technical drawings and documentation for clients seeking permission to install energy-efficient double-glazed timber sash windows in Glasgow’s conservation areas. The company offers double-glazed sash windows, sash replacement and case restoration, timber casement windows, draught-proofing, mastic pointing renewal, painting, stained glass encapsulation, protective screens, and repairs. It also provides guidance and planning application support to ensure new double-glazed timber sash windows meet heritage standards and local requirements. MWM Matt Window Mate serves Glasgow and surrounding areas, including Bearsden and Pollokshields.

Restoring period joinery to a warmer, quieter and draught-free standard is the outcome that runs through the accounts left about MWM Matt Window Mate, whose sash and case work is described time and again as beautifully executed. Customers describe the initial assessment as sensible and realistic, explaining whether a full overhaul or a lighter repair would suit the property before a fully itemised quote is provided. Turning up when promised, working steadily through the day and completing on the agreed date are points that come up often, even where older buildings produced unexpected complications.

A number of reviews mention how carefully interiors are shielded and how clean work areas are left behind, with neighbours' property given the same consideration. Matt and Peter are singled out for craftsmanship and an eye for detail, while the wider crew is called friendly and self-sufficient. Clear communication, guidance on unusual external colour schemes and practical answers to awkward period features are appreciated, and the replacement of single glazing with double glazed units in traditional wooden frames, along with whole-house refurbishments delivered in stages, is regularly called worthwhile.
