Following up to yesterday’s review and ‘justification’ from Crofton after speaking to several roofing firms the incompetence of the installation from Crofton is unacceptable. To justify this by blaming an installation in 2009 is laughable at best when there was no prior leaks around the flashing to it simply pouring in with rain after Crofton’s botched attempt is unforgivable. Crofton also have not explained the sub standard craftsmanship on the roof which is the cause of the problem. Pictures again below Steve please explain the extremely poor quality of the flashing, joins, over reliance on sealant and the damage to the interior- not just the walls and the ceiling but also the amateur at best lights install. In short shocking. Would you accept this job in your own home?

We paid Crofton Home Improvement Centre £23,000 to replace a glass roof with a tiled roof - what should have been an exciting transformation for my mum has turned into a complete nightmare. My mum chose to support a local business, believing it was the right thing to do for a project that would improve the back of her home. How wrong that turned out to be! From the outset, the job was plagued with delays and appalling communication. Dan’s workmanship is frankly shocking, resulting in persistent leaks that have caused extensive damage to plasterwork, freshly painted walls inside the conservatory, lights not fitted properly - the list goes on and on. Their efforts to rectify the problems have been woeful. Even after multiple emails and calls from my brother, and after our final request making it clear that enough is enough and immediate action must be taken to resolve this abysmal job, nothing meaningful has changed. Six months on, and the work is still nowhere near sorted. The issues continue because the underlying workmanship is so poor - you only need to see the photos to understand how bad it really is! Since then, the effort required on our side just to get any response has been exhausting. The lack of accountability is staggering - calls and emails go unanswered from Steve and there is no sense of responsibility from the company for the damage they have caused. Communication from Steve, the owner, has been horrendous at best, with no urgency or ownership shown to put things right. For a £23,000 job, this is an absolute disgrace. Crofton Home Improvement Centre should be ashamed. What should have been a positive experience has been stressful, upsetting, and completely unacceptable. Avoid at all costs. If you would like to get the company that installed that and also built an extension at my house I am very happy to give them a call for you looking to kick the problem down the road to someone else - sadly I am not shocked by this response. We have had an independent builder out and one of the first points he made was that all the tiles needed stripping back, sorting out and then fitted properly. The sealant used was what you may expect a toddler to put on a primary school project and the way the flashing was fitted was beyond laughable. You will see from the pictures and this has ZERO to do with any cavity trays. Let me post a few extracts from a roofer with over 600 5 star reviews: The East face of the roof has no soakers under the slate tiles Sealant is used everywhere - this will have water bypassing the flashing. Tiles need stripping back and sealant needs removing to enable fitting to occur to the standard required. Lead flashing is fitted poorly and will lead to leaks without doubt. Bricks are saturated due to the wet weather - Storm dry brick protector will help with this. Would you consider the work suitable for your home? Look at the pictures and tell me. If you look at picture 7 there must be a tube of sealant alone in there! Absolutely shocking - like your farcical response below.

I have included a picture taken of a roof section that Steve has had his roofer Dan fit. If you zoom in you will see the top lifted tile is filled with silicone. That was sprayed everywhere in his attempt to stop leaks his poor work had left. I have had a roofer in the local area with over 650 reviews all at 5 rating look at this roof. There is a lot of things that are questionable. His advice was the tiles need removing as a starting point. Instead silicone was put everywhere! This is not a company I would recommend touching. Dan actually said he didn’t know how to stop the leaks. This was related to Steve and he said that Dan was his best!

Crofton have a great range of customisable doors on display in their showroom which really helps with selecting the right style and fit for your home. This particular review though is about aftercare.We had a lovely endurance door fitted and supplied by Crofton three years ago. When I called them to let them know there was a problem with the lock (which was locking from the inside with no ability to unlock from the inside) rather than making us wait for endurance to dispatch a new lock they removed one from a display model and fitted the new lock with five keys and we only paid fifty quid for the engineer call out,Jim the engineer even checked and adjusted the fitting of the door slightly,I just love a craftsperson with perfectionist tendencies. Crofton converted our tired conservatory by replacing the polycarbonate roof with specialised glass and replacing the windows with ones with blinds within the double glazed cavity. Good friendly service and top notch finish. Very pleased with the new space.

I met Steve and his team when I bought a run down restaurant in Lee on the Solent. Steve gave me great advice and helped me redevelop the site quickly and well. Really well organised and great to work with. The team I go to when I want advice. They get things done quickly, but no corner cutting.
